Best Films of All Time – Part 2

In 1952, Sight & Sound magazine polled the world’s leading film critics to compile a list of the best films of all time. The poll has been repeated every ten years, to show which films stand the test of time in the face of shifting critical opinion.

The 2002 list was compiled based on contributions from 145 film critics, writers and academics, and 108 film directors. The 2012 results are expected in the fall and while we wait I thought I would share the 2002 list.

Here are films 6 – 10 …

6. 2001: A Space Odyssey (Kubrick) 1968

7. Battleship Potemkin (Eisenstein) 1925

8. Sunrise (Murnau) 1927

9. 8½ (Fellini) 1963

10. Singin’ In the Rain (Kelly, Donen) 1952

Life Doesn’t Always Deliver

Cameron Diaz pregnant!!!

Quite a few well known stars come together in this comedy about love through the eyes of five interconnected couples who are having babies. They all start to understand that no matter what you plan for, life doesn’t always deliver what’s expected.

Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks, Chace Crawford, Brooklyn Decker, Ben Falcone, Anna Kendrick, Matthew Morrison, Dennis Quaid, Chris Rock.

What to Expect When You’re Expecting is based on Heidi Murkoff’s New York Times best seller book of the same name. A book that led to a series that sold 32 million copies.

One cute quote, from one of the “dads” is … “You have not lived until you’ve wiped a dirty bum.”

Variety had this to say (but you know that the critics are not always correct)

… latest in slick packaging: Take a popular, high-concept title, weave together a limp tapestry from various loosely connected narrative strands, and embellish the project with a full roster of marketable stars (most of whom didn’t have to commit to a lengthy shooting schedule).

In theatres May 18, 2012.
