Sparkle

Viewers got a first glimpse of Whitney Houston’s final film today. NBC’s Today show premiered a trailer for the much-awaited release of Sparkle, a remake of the 1976 original. The film stars Houston, who passed away last month at the age of 48, as the mother of three girls who form a singing group and struggle with fame and drug addiction.

Snow White and The Huntsman

We all know the story of Snow White and the 7 Dwarves. This is a twist on that tale, complete with 21st century special effects.

Charlize Theron plays the wicked Queen Ravenna, and Kristen Stewart is Snow White. Chris Hemsworth is The Huntsman, who starts out as the intended bad guy, but changes sides.

Total Recall

This is considered to be the big-budget film that helped save Toronto’s ailing film industry.

Total Recall took over east-end’s Pinewood Toronto Studios and many streets around the city during its months-long shoot in 2011. Chided as “Total Remake” by some online, it is another take on the Philip K. Dick story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” which inspired the Paul Verhoeven directed, Arnold Schwarzenegger-starring sci-fi classic from 1990. (more at Toronto.com)
